Innovation and R&D

The Company has an in-house design center which utilizes the latest softwares like Solidworks, ANSYS for designing new components.  Few of latest innovations by Atul Engineering are listed below:

  • Development of AAR ‘H’ type High Tensile Tight Lock Transition Centre Buffer Coupler for Coaches of Indian Railways.
  • Development of Draft Gear for Locomotives of Indian Railways.
  • Development of Long Life Side Buffer Assembly for Indian Railways.
  • Development of semi permanent Schaku Coupler for EMU, MEMU & DEMU Coaches.
  • Development of modified Side Buffer Assembly with anti rotation device for LHB Coaches.
  • Development of Upgraded High Tensile Buffer Couplers as an import substitute according to RDSO Specification No. WD-70-BD-10.
  • Development of Draft Gear as an import substitute according to RDSO Specification No. MP-0.41.00.06 (Rev. 0.00). Dec.-2008.
  • Development of constant contact side bearer of anti for containers & freight wagons.
  • Development of austempered ductile iron as per ASTM spec A897 grade 1050/750/7

Our R&D team is continuously innovating towards development of material grades to enhance the product life and reduce the component weight thus ensuring low life cycle cost of our product for our customers.  Few activities carried out by our R&D team are:

  • Development of 28 – 32% High Chrome Grinding Media as a special requirement of M/s. Kudremukh Iron Ore Company , Bangalore (A 100% Export Oriented Unit) for achieving high impact strength & hardness.
  • low life cycle cost of our products. Our R&D team has developed best engineered products for modern Cement Plants & Ore Dressing Units. Modern plants crush various types of materials leading to a variety of working conditions.  These varying conditions require completely different grinding properties from the grinding agent. Our team of experts have done extensive field research and found that the properties required in the grinding media vary from low abrasion, high impact conditions to highly abrasive lower impact conditions.  Accordingly, our R&D team has formulated three different grades to cater to these separate requirements as follows :-
Working conditions Low abrasion medium impacts Low abrasion high impact High abrasion high impact High abrasion low impact High abrasion low impact High abrasion low impact
